Dot to Dot Festival 2010, Nottingham
You know the score: lots of bands, lots of venues, one city, one wristband, chaos ensues and so on. Let me tell you this though: Nottingham was one of the first to initiate the now very popular phenomenon of the one day city festival. Just think about that when you’re queueing for you Gaymers in Camden next year next to some fucking trilby wearing div with a Libertines fetish so hard he’s forgotten it’s not 2004. Yeah…

Spotted Dick: Week 1
Â
With the invention of innovative, new technology comes the invention of innovative, classy little blog posts. One Ms. Lauren Evett has had the brilliant idea of creating a weekly spotify playlist on It’s Not For The Cock and calling it Spotted Dick! Best feature name ever?

Have a read and put us in our place about your favourite albums and who you think will storm 09…

Shred Your Face at Camden Electric Ballroom, London 20 October
It’s a rainy Monday night and the self styled “Shred Your Face†tour rolls into Camden town for what is surely the biggest gig of the jaunt.
First on to an already pretty packed venue is Times New Viking who impress those who made the effort to come early. The band seem to take a particular perverse joy in creating glorious pop songs almost of the Belle and Sebastian variety and then smothering them with walls of feedback, splashy cymbals and fuzzed out vocals so that the listener has to almost decipher those gorgeous melodies.

Los Campesinos!- “We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomedâ€
About nine months ago, this welsh based seven piece released their debut album to what was a very positive, semi cult response, if not a transformation into mega stars. Their first album, “Hold On Now Youngster…â€, and the following months, may have not seen them come crashing home smothered in hype whilst being crammed involuntarily into our mouths, but did in fact build up quite an impressive, dedicated fan base.
